2: About the Workshops

Our sewing workshops provide a relaxed, supportive and beginner-friendly introduction to sewing. Participants are guided through a small, manageable sewing project, with the aim of completing a finished item during the one-day workshop or over the course of a two-day session.

Workshops are designed to encourage creativity, confidence and enjoyment while developing basic sewing skills or simply participating in a new experience. Projects, materials and activities may vary depending on the type of workshop and the needs of participants.

3: Bookings and Payments

Bookings can be arranged by telephone, with payment made by bank transfer, or through the available online booking options.

All bookings are subject to availability and are only confirmed once payment has been received.

Online payments are processed securely through the payment provider used for the booking.

4: Workshop Attendance

Participants are expected to arrive at the agreed workshop start time and attend for the full duration of the workshop where possible.

Please let us know as soon as possible if you are unable to attend or expect to be late.

Participants should only attend if they are well enough to take part safely and comfortably. If a participant becomes unwell during a workshop, the session may need to be paused or ended early.

5: Participants Who Require Support

Our workshops welcome participants who may require additional support to take part.

Where a participant requires one-to-one support, a carer, support worker or other appropriate person should accompany them and remain responsible for their care, personal needs and support throughout the workshop.

Please let us know about any support needs, accessibility requirements or reasonable adjustments when making a booking, so that we can do our best to make the workshop comfortable, accessible and enjoyable.

6: Safety and Use of Sewing Equipment

The safety and wellbeing of participants is a priority throughout the workshop.

1. Sewing machines are fitted with finger safety guards, and participants will be shown how to use the machine safely before beginning their project.
2. Projects will generally be prepared and pre-cut in advance to make the workshop more accessible and manageable for participants.
3. Sharp tools, including fabric scissors and other cutting equipment, will be kept securely away from participants when not in use and will be accessed by the workshop provider when cutting or preparing materials is required.
4. Drinks must be kept away from sewing machines and other electrical equipment.
5. Participants should follow the safety instructions and guidance provided during the workshop and should not use equipment in a way that could place themselves or others at risk.
6. Small hand scissors may be made available to a participant where it is considered appropriate and safe for them to use them independently. This will be agreed with the participant's carer or support worker and will be subject to appropriate supervision. A safety disclaimer may be required before the participant is permitted to use scissors.
7. The workshop provider reserves the right to withdraw access to any equipment if it is considered unsafe for the participant or others.

Participants and their carers or support workers should inform the workshop provider of any relevant needs or concerns that may affect the safe use of sewing equipment before the workshop begins.

7: Accidents, First Aid and Emergency Situations

Reasonable measures are taken to maintain a safe environment throughout the workshop. However, sewing involves the use of electrical equipment and, where appropriate, small hand tools, and accidents cannot be completely ruled out.

The workshop provider is not a qualified first aider and does not provide medical treatment. In the event of an accident or injury, appropriate assistance will be provided within the limits of the workshop provider's training and ability, and emergency services will be contacted where necessary.

Where a participant is accompanied by a carer, support worker or other responsible person, they remain responsible for providing any personal care or assistance required by the participant.

Any accident or incident occurring during the workshop will be recorded appropriately.

8: Cancellations and Refunds

We understand that circumstances can change and that a participant may sometimes be unable to attend a booked workshop.

Cancellations made 7 days or more before the scheduled workshop will receive a full refund.

Cancellations made less than 7 days before the scheduled workshop will be subject to a 50% cancellation fee, with the remaining 50% refunded. This fee helps to cover preparation, administration, materials and the time reserved for the booking, which may no longer be possible to offer to another participant.

Cancellations made within 48 hours of the workshop, or failure to attend without prior notice, will normally be non-refundable.

Where exceptional circumstances arise, consideration may be given to reducing or waiving a cancellation fee at the workshop provider's discretion.

If the workshop provider needs to cancel a workshop, participants will be offered the choice of an alternative date or a full refund.

9: Changes or Cancellation by the Workshop Provider

Every effort will be made to deliver workshops as booked. However, circumstances may occasionally arise that require a workshop to be changed, postponed or cancelled.

Where possible, participants will be given as much notice as reasonably practicable of any changes or cancellation.

If a workshop is cancelled by the workshop provider, the participant will be offered the choice of transferring their booking to an alternative available date or receiving a full refund of any payment made for the cancelled workshop.

The workshop provider will not be responsible for any additional costs or expenses incurred by the participant as a result of a workshop being changed or cancelled, including travel or accommodation costs.

The workshop provider reserves the right to make reasonable changes to the project, materials or activities where necessary, while making every effort to ensure that the workshop remains suitable and enjoyable for participants.

10: Liability

Reasonable care will be taken to provide a safe and suitable environment for all participants and to ensure that sewing equipment and materials are used appropriately.

Participants are expected to follow safety instructions and guidance provided during the workshop. Where a participant is accompanied by a carer, support worker or other responsible person, they remain responsible for providing appropriate supervision and support to the participant throughout the workshop.

The workshop provider cannot accept responsibility for injury, loss or damage arising from a participant's failure to follow reasonable safety instructions or from the actions of a participant or accompanying person.

Participants and/or participants support / carer, are responsible for informing the workshop provider of any relevant needs, limitations or circumstances that may affect their ability to participate safely.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions is intended to exclude or limit any liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.

11: Personal Belongings

Participants are responsible for their own personal belongings throughout the workshop.

Please avoid bringing valuable or unnecessary items to the workshop. The workshop provider cannot accept responsibility for loss, theft or damage to personal belongings brought to the workshop, except where liability cannot legally be excluded.

Participants and accompanying carers or support workers should ensure that personal belongings are kept in a safe and appropriate place during the workshop and do not interfere with the safe use of sewing equipment.

12: Photography and Filming

Photography may occasionally take place during workshops for promotional and social media purposes. We recognise that some participants may not wish to be photographed or may have safeguarding or other personal circumstances that mean photography is not appropriate.

Photography and filming are entirely optional and will not affect a participant's ability to attend or take part in a workshop.

No participant will be photographed or filmed for promotional purposes without appropriate consent. Where a participant requires a carer, support worker or other responsible person, consent will be obtained in accordance with the participant's circumstances and any relevant safeguarding requirements.

Where consent has been provided, photographs or short videos may be used on the workshop provider's website, social media pages and other promotional materials.

Participants who do not consent to photography or filming will be respected and should not be included in promotional photographs or videos.

Consent may be withdrawn at any time for future photography or use of images. Participants may contact the workshop provider if they have any questions or concerns about the use of their image.

13: Accessibility and Reasonable Adjustments

We aim to make our sewing workshops welcoming, inclusive and accessible to participants with different abilities and support needs.

Participants are encouraged to let us know about any accessibility requirements, learning needs, communication needs, sensory considerations or other adjustments that may help them participate comfortably and safely.

Where reasonably practicable, adjustments may be made to the workshop, equipment, instructions, pace of activities or project to support the participant's participation.

Some adjustments may require the involvement of a carer, support worker or other appropriate person. We will discuss any requirements with the participant and, where appropriate, their accompanying support person before the workshop.

While every reasonable effort will be made to accommodate individual needs, we may not be able to provide adjustments that are not reasonably practicable or that would compromise the safety of the participant or others.

14: Sewing Machine Access Requirement

Participants will need to be able to sit or stand safely at a suitable table and reach the sewing machine at approximately elbow level in order to operate it.

If a participant has difficulty sitting, standing, reaching or maintaining a suitable position at the sewing machine, please discuss this with us before booking. We will consider whether reasonable adjustments can be made to enable the participant to take part safely and comfortably.

Where a participant requires physical assistance or support to access or operate the sewing machine, their carer or support worker should remain responsible for providing that assistance.

Yes. For your Terms & Conditions, you can keep the Data Protection section quite simple. You don't need to put your entire privacy policy into the Terms & Conditions. It should mainly explain what information you collect, why you collect it, and that you handle it appropriately.

Because you may collect information about support needs or accessibility requirements, I'd make sure your separate Privacy Notice covers that in more detail, as some of that information can be sensitive.

15: Data Protection

Personal information provided when making an enquiry or booking will be handled responsibly and kept secure.

Information may be collected and used for purposes including arranging and managing bookings, communicating with participants, processing payments, providing appropriate support and meeting any necessary legal or administrative requirements.

Where participants provide information about accessibility, support or other individual needs, this will only be used where necessary to help provide a safe and suitable workshop experience.

Personal information will not be sold or shared for marketing purposes. Information may be shared with relevant third parties where necessary to provide the service, process a payment, meet a legal obligation or protect the safety of a participant or others.

Personal information will be retained only for as long as reasonably necessary and in accordance with applicable data protection requirements.

16: Complaints

We aim to provide a positive, welcoming and enjoyable experience for all participants.

If you have a concern about a workshop, please raise it with us as soon as reasonably possible so that we have the opportunity to understand the issue and, where appropriate, put things right.

Complaints can be made verbally or in writing. We will consider all complaints fairly and will aim to respond as soon as reasonably practicable.

We welcome feedback as it helps us to improve our workshops and the experience we provide to participants.

17: Acceptance of These Terms & Conditions

By making a booking for a sewing workshop, the participant, or the person making the booking on their behalf, confirms that they have read and understood these Terms & Conditions and agree to be bound by them.

Where a booking is made on behalf of a participant, the person making the booking is responsible for ensuring that the participant and, where applicable, their carer or support worker are aware of any relevant information contained within these Terms & Conditions.

These Terms & Conditions apply to all sewing workshops provided by the workshop provider unless otherwise agreed in writing.
